Occupation: Dance Studio Owner, Dance Educator
As a dance studio owner and instructor, Jennifer must stay physically and mentally fit! As an instructor, Jennifer spends her days demonstrating dance technique exercises and choreographing for both her student and adult dance companies. Just like every athlete, she must watch out for overuse injuries in areas like her calves, hips, and back. Her job as an administrator also requires her to stay organized and communicative. She relies on massage therapy to help her restore her body-mind connection, and recover quickly from any injuries, aches, and pains, so that she can be fully present and active in her classes and rehearsals. Emily's work with her includes myofascial spreading and deep tissue work to release bound up, overworked areas, as well as passive and active stretching.
Occupation: Social Worker
Rachel is a social worker by day, dance teacher by night, and herbalist in her free time! Working primarily from her home office, she communicates with clients and colleagues alike, via phone, computer, or in person. She is no stranger to multi-tasking as she's often working on multiple cases at the same time. This can mean overuse of her wrist with her computer mouse as well as straining her neck and shoulders to chat on the phone hands-free! All this multi-tasking can catch up with her, so she relies on Empower Massage Therapy to work out chronic neck and shoulder pain, and release tension from her forearms and wrists. Emily and Rachel also discuss at-home self-care exercises that she can do at her desk or on the go.
